Brad Serhan
In the 1960s, loudspeaker designer Brad Serhan’s great uncle Bill Mawer was head technician of a company importing Quad valve amplifiers and Quad electrostatics. This association was the catalyst for Brad’s interest in music and hi fi. While studying electrical engineering at university in the late 1970s, Brad’s hi fi / loudspeaker tweaking with fellow residential college students provided him with the impetus and passion to design loudspeakers.
In 1980 this passion culminated in Brad’s first loudspeaker design. These loudspeakers were sold to fellow students. He then broadened his market horizons by advertising in hi fi journals and further sales ensued.
In 1984 Brad Serhan founded Orpheus Loudspeakers. The company’s first model was the Dolomite. It proved to be the first of several designs which were pivotal in the evolution of Orpheus. For more on the loudspeakers Brad designed for Orpheus, click here.
In the last few years, Brad has found himself more and more in demand as a designer of loudspeakers custom-made to suit individual customer preferences and listening environments. Sometimes these speakers are unique, one-off products, although some also evolve into speakers that can be offered to the general market.
All his speakers draw on Brad’s now extensive experience in bringing together cutting edge science and technology with an artist’s ear (and eye) for beauty.
The quest to create the ultimate listening environment continues, with Brad Serhan at the forefront.
